Athens: Alpha+Omega, Open Source 3d Engines et al.

Friday, 21.3: Travelled from Corfu to Athens with Michalis Alektoridis, Tereza Bílová and Georg Überall on Friday, March 21 from 1 pm to 10:30 pm. On the way listened to:

  • J.S. Bach Cello Suite 1, played by Pablo Casals
  • F. Schubert: Quartet No. 15 in G and Quartettsatz in c, played by the Italian Quartett
  • F. Schubert: Forellenquintett
  • W.A. Mozart: String Quintets No. 1, No. 4, No. 2 in C and No. 3 in g, played by the (extended) Arthur Grumiaux Trio
  • Leoš Janá?ek: String Quartet “Intimate Letters” and Pavel Haas: String Quartet “From the Monkey Mountains”, played by the Petersen Quartet.
  • Karimi - Musavi: Persian classical song and nay duos

Saturday, 22.3: Walk to Monastiraki, coffee at Magaze - Aiolou close to Agia Eirini. Noon: Lunch at home, Stathis Chrysidis describes the preparation and performance of Butoh in forests of Japan with Tanaka. Evening: Saw A+O @ Pallas theatre, afterwards Plastelini, Avramiotou Str. (Kinky Kong was too crowded), afterwards saw Chapel where Papadiamantis used to sing, sat opposite Stoa Attalou and talked about Papadiamantis’ story of the neyzen @ Thisseion.

Sunday, 23.3: Coffee at Dexameni Lykavittou, discussion about black and white, the notion of “nothing”, Alexandros Mistriotis joins and gives short exposition on Pseudo-Dionysious Aeropagites and the notion of “grade” vs. “substance” in the realm of angels vs. the physical world, also in states of clarity vs. intoxication. Then about Cycladic culture and its mysterious human-centered cult as suggested by surviving effigies (scuptures). Afterwards Alexandros about CICV in France. Evening: Visit the light-sound-projection control room of A+O where Stathis explained principles of vvvv, and his work for the show. Afterwards went to “Alli Ochthi” where Nikos Oikonomidis with his ensemble (song, outi) played music from the islands of the Aegean. A group from Paros was assembled there and they danced a lot. Afterwards walk alongside the First Cemetery, where we saw small dots on the pavement arranged in a pattern resembling the number 5 on dices :

at two locations, which as Michalis Alektoridis explained, are the work of an immigrant.
Dinner: Crèpes at Colibri at the right side of Anapafseos going down.

In the meanwhile: Downloaded Elephants Dream, an “open source animation film” made with Blender3D and other open source tools.
